Mikhulu Child Development Trust is an NPO working in early childhood development – our passion and expertise is in supporting children’s cognitive and socio-emotional development, through developing evidence-based interventions for parents. They are known for our rigorous focus on quality and high-impact programmes.Over the next few years, we will mainstream evidence-based support for families into government policy and practice, and across civil society.

We are looking for a high performing individual to join our team as the Programme Manager for New programmes and innovation. The role will focus on adapting and re-developing existing programmes, and testing and implementing them. This role requires an entrepreneurial working approach, while still being focused on quality, impact and scale. The successful applicant should be comfortable working with uncertainty and frequent change.

Mikhulu Child Development Trust  seeks to appoint a Programme Manager: New programmes and Innovation to be based in Cape Town.

 

Employment type: Permanent

Commencement Date: 15 January 2022

Key high-level responsibilities include:

  • Strategy development

  • Programme ideation, development, delivery and management

  • Partnership development and relationship management

  • Management of key strategic projects

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant degree in Social Sciences or related field;

  • Proven relevant experience managing people and programmes;

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience;

  • Experience in NGO and/or ECD sectors would be advantageous;

  • Good verbal and written English skills; isiXhosa or Afrikaans would be advantageous;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including an having an appropriate level of cultural sensitivity;

  • Strong IT skills, including relevant computer literacy in MS Office.

Driver’s Licence and own vehicle will be needed for this role, as well as the willingness to travel and willingness to work in low-income areas.
